events co-ordinator 353
You are wasting your time unless you get more than the last march Aprox 450,000 people the media will say support for hunting is on the wane.Get organised by all means but target your local MP he/she is the person that will be looking to be re-elected go and speak to them they need to feel that their job is vulnerable. You need to show these people that we are not the Barbaric monsters that we are portraid as, set up a rota check out vote ok.I have not seen the name of one single organisation involved in this thread are any of the people desperate to march members of their local terrier/lurcher/fieldsports club if not why not? We do'nt neeed a march we need to put pressure on MPs at LOCAL level let them see that this is an issue that will not die but do it the smart way Remember this is THE GOVERNMENT THAT IGNORED ONE MILLION PEOPLE ON THE STREETS OF LONDON AGAINST THE IRAQ WAR. mushroom 13,268
Your right in a way. Yes we need to petition our local candidates (forget this government as you pointed out they will ignore everybody and do what they want) and march when the next government comes in I will be putting up a list of all candidates as soon as I get it for everyone to send in their letters. This is the most important thing to contact all candidates. Now that's answered let's keep these threads to numbers only or is that to difficult??? If you want to crap on the party or offer advise start a new thread. ATB and a Happy New Year to all Kie Quote Link to post
Barrie 1,325
YIS WISE WORDS AND DEFINITELY NOT TO BE IGNORED... With respect and without wishing to dampen anyone's enthusiasm, which is very much to their credit. But if there is a genuine desire amongst posters on this thread (and elsewhere) to achieve something positive for terrierwork along with the rest of fieldsports, then offering just a few hours of their time to assist Vote-OK would be by far the most productive thing they could do. In reality it would cost far less in terms of time or money than attending any march(s) in our capital cities and more importantly IT WILL HAVE A LONG TERM LASTING EFFECT. Vote-OK's sole objective is to ensure that as many pro-hunting MPs as possible are elected to Parliament at the next General Election and that as many ant-hunting MPs as possible are unseated. At the last General Election the loss of 29 anti-hunting MPs seats and the reduction of a further 21 to a tiny majority was widely attributed to the work of Vote-OK. No politician likes to lose their seat with all the financial benefits that entails and particularly the New Labour intake, many of whom had never had a proper job in their life, let alone one with such great financial rewards. The next General Election could be called as early as 20th March or as late as 6th May. This doesn't leave us much time to get our act together, if we don't then there won't be any second chances and the Hunting Act (and maybe worse) will be here to stay for ever. The Vote-OK website can be found at Vote-OK. Y.I.S. - Barrie Edited January 2, 2010 by Barrie Quote Link to post
