events co-ordinator 353
The ban that the protest is about is in ENGLAND because even if the tories get in and repeal the ban it wont make ANY difference in SCOTLAND if you want to help our fellow sportsmen in ENGLAND go to the surgery of your WESTMINISTER MP in your local constituency and put your views accross in a polite and knowledgeable manner and point out that hes voting on a matter thats been devolved and ask him in the intrest of democracy to at least abstain. This is a much better use of your time see them in their office they dont like it I bet once you've done it once you will understand how little these people know about what we do. GO GET THEM! mushroom 13,227
Think you will find the Hunting act 2004 was passed in Westminster but covers all of the United Kingdom and it can only be repealed in Westminster. Quote Link to post
mushroom 13,227
Edited as I was incorrect with my post. Events coordinator is right in what she says the Scottish act is totaly independent of Westminster. the Hunting Act and the Protection of Wild Mammals Act (which I have just gone through here) are not linked as I thought they were The Hunting Act 2004 The Protection of Wild Mammals (Scotland) Act 2002 Quote Link to post
events co-ordinator 353
I think you will find the relevant act in Scotland is, The Protection of Wild Mammals Scotland act it refers only to Scotland. I was through in the Scottish parliament during the debates and the evidence sessions with my father he was part of the NWTF team fighting the bill and making sure the amendmants allowed us to work our dogs for pest control and to protect livestock not just gamebirds like England I've tried to point out the info on terrierwork at the top of the page is not relevant to Scotland but did'nt get any reply. If you need any info on Scotland dont guess just ask.YIS Quote Link to post

birddog 1,354
id be up for anything to help our sport but would some kind of petition not get a few names how many members are on here for a start remember politics is a numbers game if the guys in suits get the message that a lot of hunters, shooters and fishers (and family and freinds) are up in arms perhaps there would be more chance of them listening Quote Link to post

If people still want to do it theres a thread pinned in the general section If numbers increase I'll continue to organise it Quote Link to post
gerry81 1
I think you are wasting your time as well mate. If you did get as far as actually marching which i very much doubt no one will turn up anyway. See all this kind of shite before usually fizzels out in a few weeks. I have seen people trying to organise various protests one of which being the fuel protests which lets face it affects everyone in this country and nowt happened there, all it did was cause people to panic buy and make the fuel companies even more money. Right now for the legal bit: You and anyone else who organises any march, protest or any other kind of event are legaly liable for the health and safety of everyone attending and damage they may cause. Why on earth cant people just get on with hunting instead of wasting their time complaining about a ban which will never be overturned to suit the average dog man. rubbish any march or protest is civil rights wherever the march being held u contact the local council and police so to agree dates if council or police dont approve the march you then take it to court where it will be granted on human rights bill and the police have to pay for stewarding; controlling; health and safety and diverted traffic etc Quote Link to post
