hard conditions

Recommended Posts

Rained for about two days and then froze up and then snowed so runnin conditions and huntin conditions were tough on us. We walked quite a little bit of ground and never could get one jumped. Sunday, it was snowin perty hard here in the mornin so we didnt go out til after it quit and the sun was tryin to come out. We walked some more ground with nothin doin. Then my daughter spotted some very bad drifted over tracks along the road. I parked the truck and we started just walkin in the general direction. We got to the 1/4 mile line and I told her that I thought there was a coyote out here cause the way the dogs were runnin and driftin and actin. Anyhow, I asked her if she wanted to finish out the section just to see and she said yes so I went back to the truck and she kept on down the creek and such. I got to the truck and drove around the section when I seen them buildin up speed and then out popped a coyote and Cotton and Blue dumped him and Stitch came in and Abby was runnin hard to em. Me and Katy and Sam man jumped out the truck and walked out to em and they had him dead. Big ole dog coyote. 35 pound plus this one was but I never weighed him but I know a big coyote when I see one. He was stout too.

pic of Stitch and the coyote, the two gyps were off jack assin so they didnt make the pic

Yes, he is a staghound.

FR, trust me partner, there aint a coon within many a mile of us. LOL!

Ole Bosky is still doin us pretty proud. We had him on a real rough one though about 5 weeks ago or so. Took him almost a month to get right again. That man that raised that dog oughta be proud of himself.

Top job Dan  love them stags, pre ban foxes would be piss easy to them. over here.??

Horses for courses really. There are some staghounds that would make great fox dogs but some that would not. I know that Stitch is not a great fox dog at all. I have never ran him on one but the fella that give him to me told me that he was not good at em. The smaller, snappy gyps would be the ticket there I think.
