hello, where should i start?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

my name is patrick and im 21 and i live in lowestoft suffolk.

Right so i went rabbit hunting on boxing day with a couple of friends from the family. we got loads loads of rabbits for dinner yum yum. but they used a 12 bore for their hunting.

So i want to start hunting rabbits myself, but i dont know the best route for me.

When i was in the air cadets i got my marksmanship on a .22 rifle(5 shots in 10p from 25-meters) i would have to practice loads before killing rabbits with a rifle.

so i could go the rifle route but i also like the idea of training ferrets to chase the rabbits out and catch them in a purse net.

What would people recommend for me or what the easiest way to get started?

The ferret and purse net method is certainly the easy way to get started in rabbit hunting mate.Wont cost you an arm and a leg to get started,No licence needed and your alot more likley to get permision to ferret than to shoot at least for a start.

Hope this helps mate and welcome

Hi, i have been reading on the net since posting about ferreting, and i also think ferret will best for me. (best of all it will be a friend to play with in the winter nights)

I have looked around and found a place in kings lynn which is given work strain ferrets to a home free. (so finding a ferret will not be hard)

So next thing to think about is a housing. are rabbit hutches any good for them?

Any links or information would be great.

Thanks
