Deker 3,478
can anyone reccomend a decent one? 12 bore or 410. What do you want to do with it? I have a single barrel 12g in the Cabinet for the simple reason it was £25 at the Game Fair this year! Kicks like a mule and does nothing better or more efficiently then my O/U or Semi. Much more choice or 410 singles and a better bet for general pest control? Quote Link to post
halamrose 24
forgive me but how is 410 better for pest control? cheers, H Quote Link to post

JonathanL 4
Depends what you want it for. I have a single barrel, bolt action 9mmRF shotgun that I bought to kill rats which were hanging round the compost bin in the garden. Unfortunately, I've never seen a rat since I got it. Very handy little thing for use in confined spaces or where you don't want to upset the neighbors. J. Quote Link to post
bob.243 9,236
Go for a 20, less kick than a 12, better than a .410 Quote Link to post
AzMaN 0
i tryed clay shooting with a single barrel 12g and my god did my soulder hurt after 75carts, kicked like a mule. now i have a nice semi Quote Link to post
stubby 175
can anyone reccomend a decent one? 12 bore or 410. as already asked, whats it for I have already been down this road, I started with buying a single shot 410 pedretti hushpower, purely for dispatching live trap caught foxes, and for that its a great little tool, very quiet but I then got the bug of shooting pidgeons, and wanted a 12, so brought a single shot pedretti hushpower in 12 bore, but a single shot gets annoying after a while Ive since bought myself a second hand hatsan escort semi (3 shot), great little rough gun in my eyes, simular to marmite, has its lovers and haters, carts cheaper too with the hushpowers, carts were around £6 per box, both sizes but with a standard shotgun, £4 a box Quote Link to post

And a 410. for shooting where noise is a problem. I wasn't asking 12 bore or 410. I was asking can anyone reccomend a good model in both calibres. I know you only have one shot but I like them better than o/u s/b/s and semi auto. Quote Link to post
stubby 175
in that case, I'd recomend pedretti, keep and eye out on pidgeon watch, or gun trader, they sometimes come up there, just sold my 12 Quote Link to post
bicykillgaz 1
get a baikal in both then mate but i'd stick a recoil pad on the 12b they kick like a b*****d, you'll pick up a baikal single barreled 12b for as little as £25 and the .410 will vary but probably get the pair for about £100 good luck mate Quote Link to post
dixyhmr 62
Why not try a multi shot instead of single. Edited January 18, 2010 by dixyhmr Quote Link to post
