FOXHUNTER 5,021
I went out for a stalk yesterday afternoon to a place I havent been to for a while. On arrival I was immediately aware of the amount of slots but didnt hold much hope due to the very noisy crunchy snow. I continued right to the boundary edge after spooking 2 roe already. As I approached a steep bank that descended to the river a roe burst from cover not 20 yards from me . I quickly ran to the edge of the banking and saw it disappear round the corner so I ran to the highest piece of ground and spied her approaching up a hawthorn hedge . There was only one possible place for a shot and that was a space between 2 hawthorn bushes. I followed her on my sticks and as if she was obeying my thought she stopped in the gap . She was facing away from me and the only shot on was the back of her head.I steadied myself on the sticks and sent a round which knocked her straight over . I was very pleased with the shot and having to overcome the terrible conditions underfoot. Its blizzarding here right now so looks like more fun in the snow !!!
