Ratcherman 0
Well i decided to have a walk out on xmas eve to see if i could bag a doe for the freezer.I had a walk in the wood as i have seen a lot of fresh slots there lately in the snow but as i tried to stalk through the snow it was nearly impossible as the snow was too hard and crunchy,i continued through the wood and i bumped a roe which was lying in a holly bush so i had a look on the field to see if it had came out but it hadnt just as i turned around i seen a fox running straight towards me but as i put the rifle on the sticks it saw me and run in the wood .I continued through the wood and stopped at the corner of a field to see if anything came out, within about 2 minutes a cock pheasent came screaming out the wood with a vixen right behind him she then stood and sniffed the long grass so i dropped to the ground and shot her at about 130 yds I draged the fox to the gate and decided to have another walk for a doe there was only about 30 mins of light left had a stalk through the wood but seen nothing i ended back up at the corner of the field were i had shot the vixen i decided to sit there till dark, the wind picked up and it turned real cold it was almost dark and i saw two doe's walk out of the wood but they were sillouted on the top of a hill i decided it was time for home as i turned around i clocked a shape in the long grass were i had shot the vixen i lay down and had a look through the scope it was a dog fox sniffing the grass were the vixen had been squeezed the trigger and down he went aswell never got my doe but i wasnt bothered as the fox's made up for it Edited December 26, 2009 by Ratcherman Quote Link to post
