villebones 4
Have had a search but couldn't find what I was looking for. I've just noticed worms coming out of my dogs backside. I've been using 'Sherleys easy treat wormer' on him so far. He's 28tts but not sure on his weight. Should I change what I am using? and what would be best to use? Any help appreciated. stealthy1 3,964
Pick your dog up and get on the bathroom scales, re-weigh yourself on your own to get the dogs weight, Drontal Plus, one tab for every 10kg of your dogs weight, cut one into halves or quarters if you need to to get the dose bang on
Annmarie09 5
Sherley's is crap. Use Drontal or Panacur, milbemax is great but not if your dog has collie in him. Make sure you weigh the dog as advised, don't guess or go by a weight from months ago, this is really important.
collieman 45
why not if he is collie

I did discuss this with my vet as my lurcher is part collie, and he reckons he would still prescribe it but only at the exact dose and after weighing the dog. I am concerned that some folk are buying their wormers from other sources and are perhaps not being as cautious as my vet. Also, we use Ivermectin to worm our horses and sheep and the dog sometimes eats their dung. Lots of dogs do this and unless the livestock belong to the dog owner how do you know when they were last wormed? I know the chances are slim but it just isn't a chance I am willing to take when there are other products on the market which as just as effective. If I had a different breed of dog I would happily use milbemax.
J Darcy 5,871
You are always best with a good quality wormer. Just put the wormer in a little meaty treat and bobs your uncle....
