zini 1,939
Hi guys, I got up bright and early this morning intending walking the dog and taking along the HW100KT with me just in case. I got dressed and then looked out the kids bedroom window onto the woods where I now have permission to shoot . I couldn’t believe my eyes as there sat in the fir trees at range was a crow and magpie . I opened up my gun safe and grabbed the first rifle which was the HW100KT anyway. The GunTuff laser confirmed that the magpie was at 46 metres and the crow in a different tree out of range at 75 metres . I quietly opened the bedroom window and placed 3 mil dots holdover on the magpie’s heart and slowly squeezed off the shot. The Maggie dropped straight out the tree stone dead . At this second the crow started screaming and flying around shouting at the dead maggie. This is where it made a big mistake and landed in a tree not to far from where the maggie was first sat and just looked at the dead bird screaming at it in the snow. I used the GunTuff again and this time confirmed the crow now at 54 metres and within my and the HW’s shooting capability . A estimated 4.5 mil dots of hold over with the HW100KT set to x10 mag and placed the dots over its heart and I squeezed the trigger. WHACK, the crow went straight down and didn’t even move with nerves on impact . Not a bad start to a Boxing Day. Zini Quote Link to post

sibaldib 6
Great shooting again Zini. You have the skill to take shots that I would not have the confidence (or experience to take) Your posts completely dismiss the theories, voiced by many so called experts, that you should not take game over 30-35yds with a .22 Cheers and have a good trip to Germany. zini 1,939
Hi Sib pal , I think these opinions are voiced by experts to be on the safe side so people dont see them as cruel and inhumane when a shot wounds. I have wounded vermin by mistake at 15 metres and probably 100% of readers on here have done the same thing sometime in their shooting career. Its sad but a fact of life and all part of learning the skill. A sub 12 FP rifle will defo kill if its a head of heart shot out to 55 metres no problems. It only takes a few FP to piece the heart or brain and at 55 metres and there is still be 4 or 5 FP of energy left at that range. You only have to look on YouTube and you will see people shooting targets at 55 metres and being deadly accurate. I watched the Snypercat clip yesterday where that lady was shooting bottle tops at 50 yards with a HW100KT and cracking them every shot no problems. If your shooting is up to it then the rifles of these days defo are. It just depends on your shot placement. Like ive said before if you honestly know that you cant shoot accurately more than 30 yards then dont try and shoot further that it. Si Quote Link to post
