Phantom 631
Yep, thats about the long and short of it And be prepared for a lot of 'NOT a f g CHANCE buddy'. Sad but true, took me a hell of a long time to get a permission. As look would have it, I just happened by a field at the same time the horse owner was doing some work there and got chatting to him. Complete FLUKE, but he gave me a verbal permission. It was nearly a year before I actually got it in writing from him after that. I got the Cemetery permission over six months after I first 'offered my services' tot he church and that was because I pointed out all the damage the bunnies were causing. It is VERY HARD WORK to start with, but DONT GIVE UP it will happen eventually. Of course you may be like some other lucky gits on here and get permission immediately Good luck and dont get down hearted (easier said than done). John-B 4
Knock on doors mate and keep knocking, We have just got another 100 acres by a pure fluke, driving past some fields really slowly and looking at the amount of rabbits in it, a woman stopped and asked if we were lost and we just said we were looking at the rabbits and for some new permission, luckily the lady who stopped was the land owner and she said we can go on whenever we want and get rid of the rabbits any way we want but we had to get rid of the ones in her garden first haha Quote Link to post
zak-s410 0
Its really hard work mate, me and my mate tried 40 or 50 farms not so long ago and we only got one we can ferret, but we are going to keep trying till we get more. Its a bit gutting when they all keep saying no but keep at it there will be a someone about that let you soooner or later Atb Zak Quote Link to post
Edgar 1
Get to know game keepers, volunteer to go beating, I used to help voluntarily on a local shoot, the keeper found I was trust worthy and could shoot vermin and keep an eye on things without scaring all the pheasants away. Now I can shoot around lots of farms and hedge rows. Make friends with farmers or any one with a vermin problem. Gardeners for instance. Once you have one permission the farmer or who ever will recommend you to others and before you know it you will have lots of vermin to shoot. Then keep your new permission. Ask people if they want a brace of rabbits and if you decide to bring a friend along make sure they are trust worthy. Quote Link to post
davyt63 1,845
hi buddy a must is insurance! have you sent any lettrs out? also its just not farmers. try these places horse paddocks, hotels, football grounds, rugby grounds, industrial estates, business parks, golf courses, cemeteries, manor houses, country clubs, riding shcools, ect..ect......... get some of grim reapers letters of permission here: http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40744 and edit to suit then post to all above in your area, and bingo! i have had good results with them. if all else fails then check out the shared permission on here.if that still fails, then get knocking on doors hope this helps! regards davy Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Yeah Davy has an EXTREMELY VALUABLE POINT there! Forgot to mention when I followed up with my original answer INSURANCE I have got BASA papers 18£ for a year to the tune of £2 million (minimumn public liability for any one incident) Not that I need it mind (because we are all very safe shooters aint we?) But it gives peace of mind to the land owners and although it costs, its deffo worth every single penny, for each and every shot you think about taking Phantom PS it was one of Grim's letters that helped get me my Cemetery Permission Quote Link to post
