Was having a chat with ma mate earlier about breeding a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie back to a greyhound, he thought that this would make a good daytime dog (pre-ban for hares) and a was thinking this might be to much greyhound blood which would lead to bad feet, lack of brains, easily ripped skin! Was wondering what your thoughts were on this breeding lads? All thoughts welcome! Atb Darren

I've bred 3/4 to 3/4 myself, but one of mates bred a 3/4 dog to a full gru bitch, turned out very greyhoundish, he was never really into daytme hares more of a lamper, can't say how good or bad they were as It wasn't my game, but they must have been allright as he still has them allbeit they are 8 years old now.

As I said I don't lamp so I don't know the strenghs of the {bitches} but I took him to a bit of ground during the day a couple of years back and they just walked beside him, which was no use on this particular bit of ground I suppose they had been to used to lamping. I will be speaking to him in the next couple of days and I will get his honest opinion on them, cheers.

In my opinion i can,t see any reason of breeding such a cross their ni pure greyhounds, they might have plenty of speed but thats about it, a dog of this breeding wouldn,t last two minutes especially were i go, it would smash itself to bits, i would never have one. regards collie john.

Saw one run hares in barnsley, as stated looked like a pure bred black and white greyhound.

fast and big and i think good for the bigger stuff, it could stay better then a pure greyhound .

3/4 bred would be my end product(sorry if i sound like plummer/hancock), or mate a 3/4 bred to another collie bred dog, i wouldnt want anymore greyhound blood.
