whats the best way of toughning a pat terrier she seem a bit soft. for 10 months old

Porterlord , you should remember that most of the members on here were born knowing everything there is to know about dogs. my advice is take some time to read through as many threads as you can , work out who actually does know a bit about dogs and ask any questions you may have by pm. With regards to your bitch, you have nothing to worry about , as a couple of lads have been good enough to say , good terriers are as you describe yours when above ground. I understand your concerns , its hard to imagine isnt it? That a dog who is lolling about like a kitten will have enough fire in its belly to disappear into the deep pitch black and go toe to toe with its quarry , but it will. Dont enter her too young and if she doesnt take to it instantly , dont rush her or get rid of her , give her another couple of months then try again. Catch her a few live rats , she ll like that. My own terriers are likely to fall over with shock if I shout at them; they never look agressive at other dogs, quite the opposite. My black Pat is almost scared of strange dogs and yet she kills foxes to ground without batting an eyelid. Just because a dog doesn't act 'hard' or tough in daily life means f*ck all: IMO the very best dogs are laid back, easy to get on with and a doddle to handle until they are at work. I've seen no end of so called 'hard' dogs mouthing off at other dogs and even snapping at people: but they've been no use at all down an earth. If someone has told you that your dog should be acting harder just remember that it is the quiet, retiring type of bloke who is more likely to kill you if you piss him off than the all-mouth-no-trousers type who shouts the odds at every opportunity when he's backed up by his idiot mates.
