mushroom 13,227
I'm pretty certain you can do it legally along with most quarry you can shoot in this country (obviously not deer or foxes etc), granted its not the done thing but you won't get done for it. If in doubt phone BASC or whoever you are a member of and they will clarify it. Kie Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
It is deffinately illegal to shoot them on a SUNDAY or on XMAS DAY. Ive just been reading up on the subject before posting and nowhare does it state that its illegal to kill them with an air rifle. But it is considdered "Un-Sportsman like". And there is also a specific period that its deffinately illegal to SELL them. Phantom Quote Link to post

As for the sundays it is illegal to hunt and kill ANY animal classed as game on christmas day or a sunday in England and Wales (not sure about Scotland or N ireland), this is an old law that is rarely enforced but I wouldn't like to try it on with the plod or an anti magistrate. stealthy1 3,964
If you fancy one for the pot, then whack one, airguns are well capable of dropping a Hare Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
The simple answer to the question is that it is NOT illegal to shoot a Hare with an air rifle. But life is never simple, if you can shoot straight and despatch efficiently with an air rifle then fine, if it can be shown that you or the rifle are inflicting any sort of cruelty on the Hare then all sorts of legislation comes into play! GENERALLY speaking an air rifle would not be considered an appropriate tool to shoot a Hare with! We all know an air rifle can kill a person, but it is not the first choice of any army around the world for doing that job!! Edited December 23, 2009 by Deker Quote Link to post
