I would say most modern patterdales have some of the old fell terrier blood running through their veins in some form or other as thats were they originated from? The old fell terriers from the Patterdale & Lake District regions that were used in the Coniston hunts & Middleton days came in all shapes & sizes & different coloured coats from grey(Bedlington type), red, black & tan etc. What would you describe a fell terriers characteristics to be?
