I have been told to get my 12 week old collie whippet some tripe from the local slaughter but im un-sure how to feed it. Do you cook it or give it raw? Is it given as a full meal or mixed in with the dry complete puppy mix im giving him? Should it be cut into small chunks ready for the dog or given as a 1 large piece? Any advice is appreciated.

when you are feeding tripe, to a pup, make sure you freeze, the tripe first, for about a week, (( to kill all parasites and any other nastiness, I always cook, all meat before feeding,, feeding Raw tripe, to a pup is not a good Idea, you are only feeding worms, so prepare your tripe in feed lots and place in the freezer, simple, you need a high protein feed biscuit, for puppies, and also, very important, you do not want over feed tripe to a pup, you will run the back end of him, feed him in sensible, feed lots small and about 4 times aday, it is nice to see a pup clean his dish, when eating, and you can increase the feed accordingly, ((( this is my opinion, I have just reared a pup

he is now 12 months old, doing his job very well, have a look on ((( show me your collie xs there is a photo on there with another collie x,

my one is the black one, and judge for yourself,,

It is your puppy, feed him the way you like, (((( but for those people, who think Raw, Tripe, is good for a pup, all I can say they have not got a clue about feeding and rearing a pup,, (((( when you go to the vets, (( if you go just enquire there, feed a good quality, high protein

biscuit, with some good meat mixed through, and watch his excrement, that tells you a whole story,

well border lad,iv not got a clue, have a look at my post, that bitch was brought up on tripe, tell me if she would have been better, feed on somthing, else

yes there was an old saying up and around here, the fellow is talking a load of old tripe, yes and another, did you ever see a top fighter,

train, and eat tripe, No ( high protein, good steaks and plenty of eggs, in my experience,((feeding tripe was an additive to his diet, along with a good biscuit, for a change, that was all, and a small collie whippet x pup, you want to be feeding,a good healthy, high protein diet,

not blowing his back end off with Tripe, Humans used to eat, tripe, because they could not afford to by proper meat, cooked in milk with, onions, try and eat that shite, and I will tell you, you will not be coming back for a second helping,

i swear by it, raw tripe is top stuff for dogs, cheap i pay £3.00 for a full tripe put though the mincer , i freeze it down into small portions and use it mixed with dry about 3 or 4 times a week,i would limit the amount you give to a pup or young dog ,tends to put weight on them ,horrible green slimey stuff when u see it hanging up, but who cares the dogs love it,

Swear by raw tripe too, wolves had not vets in the wild or can openers. I reared a greyhound and raced won the most consistant dog of the yr at my local track. Have to say thou, three or four days a week and meat and nuts the rest is a good variety for the dog. Also when u see a dog eating grass its the partly digested grass in the un washed tripe is what he is after thats where he gets hes vitamins, dogs cant digest the raw grass and herbs. Hope thats of use to ya
