gutted

hi i was out working my little saluki/greyhound x beddy/whippet bitch the other day and she went off on a run and came back to limping, she diddnt seem in pain and wasnt crying when i touched it but just refused to put a ny weight on it.

i took her to a greyhound man for an x-ray thinking she might have a small break or fracture but he found thet she had torn the main ligament in her stifle.

he said she really just needed lots of rest and massaging with linaments, the ligament would heal but she may never fully recover.

its now a week later and although she puts a tiny bit of weight on the leg and she still needs at least 6 weeks rest im thinking it may be best to retire her early as i hate to see her in pain and am worried if she over exerts the ligament might give again.

this is so gutting to me as 2 years ago she broke her back right leg and i had it pinned, from which she completely recovered and you could not tell anything had ever happend. so for her now to be off her back left leg it seems shes not ment to run and has very bad luck.

has anyone else had a dog with this injury and how well did they recover etc..

thanks for any advice. lucy.

Sorry to hear about the dog Lucy. Hope it all ends well whatever you decide.

That little bitch from you is doing really well now, havent started her on anything live yet tho. Her toe has made a great recovery now you wouldnt think it was ever broken. Will give her a run on a rabbit within the next couple of months, too busy with the collie cross lennie at the mo.

Regards Rick
