i havent seen one work but know two keepers that like the cross.their dogs just look like young wirehairs.its certainly something ill consider if i want another dog like that.(i have a gwp)

as for someone doing the cross for money, well some might, but id have thought you would make more money from breeding litters of springers or wirehairs.the cross would be worth less than a purebred wouldnt it?

Shina in terms of health problems I read a very good article recently on "Hybrid Vigour". It was talking about the restricted nature of gene pools in pedigree dogs and this is the cause of alot of genetic problems like hip dysplasia. By outcrossing and opening up the genepoool these crosses are often free from such diseases.I'm looking for a GWP x Labrador at the minute. Have always had GWP's but would like to try this cross as I feel it would be most suitable for the ground I now shoot.

These are Choc Lab x Italian Spinone And not as hot as other pointer crosses and easier to handle. They are no bigger than Labs but end up slightly thicker set than pointers. Both dogs pictured are brothers from two seperate matings. Both pictured on point at a cock pheasant.

Just been reading about the German Short Haired Pointer and is described as the 'best all round hunting dog' an incredible athlete apparently!! Now I'm curious to understand the the difference between the Short and Wire haired versions?
