tomburras 2,730
a few years ago (i was about 12-13) my dad got a pretty dog (collie x greyhound was bueatifull), and the breeder said the longer the tail the faster he (jack) was at chasing a rabbit due to counterbalance he had with his long tail on corners (it was very long, longer than its body!). he was stole a year after we got him (travelers where going through, but no fingers pointed!) is the longer the tail the faster cornering dog theory true? i bet he would have been a abserlutely fantastic dog from what i saw from him! he had no training at all!!! and he chased and caught rabbits naturally! sometimes he repeatedly yelped and missed them!!! is this normal too? thanks in advance for any answers (ps.sorry for a lot of questions!) BEARINATOR 2,872
The longer the tail in a pup normally means a long back, most pups don't take too much training to chase and catch rabbits as it's their instincts. It's a shame the dog got pinched though as by the sound of it you were fun with it edited to say that they sometimes yelp due to being overmatched too young Edited December 20, 2009 by BEARINATOR Quote Link to post
mcass123 6
i entered a lurcher when he was quite young, he found it hard at first to catch rabbits and he yelped like fcuk too but as he matured, he caught nearly every rabbit he ran and settled down and stopped yelping Quote Link to post
wee gemm hunter 8
One of my bitches Yips a bit on a chase,I would normally put it down to being not fast enough but this isn't the case, she has speed to burn. I bought her as an adult and knowing [ after buying ] how she was raised I would say the reason for it was being entered to soon, just my opinion. Quote Link to post
