They will keep getting shot because their dog can never measure up to their mates' dogs or to the dog stories on here. They could have potentially the best dog in the country in their hands, but because of their inadequacy as trainers, the dog is ruined and passed on. The next dog steps up to the mark and the same fate awaits it. The ones frequently with dogs for sale or swap on here are those sh1t dog handlers that I am alluding to. Dave Tdavepat has an example of a dog, that if any other person had it, it would most likely have been sold 15 times by now...The Black Pocket Rocket! It is nothing other than time, patience skill and a complete refusal to give up on him, that the dog has turned as he has...And from what I have seen, It is only in the past few months this has happened, a few months that wouldnt have came for anyone else as the dog would have been sold on. But Dave stuck with him and it has paid off ten fold. From a head strong, "Do as I please" to a thoroughly obedient, patient and clever rabbiting dog, I believe there is a lot more to come from him. And hats off to Dave, as I know, not a lot of others would have stuck it out like he did. Thanks FF. I wanted to hang him some nights. He would bugger off on his own. He would see rabbits in the beam and chase sheep instead. He wouldn't retrieve and he would take rabbits into a corner where i couldn't find him and crunch them to nothing. He wouldn't jump, wouldn't recall and generally was a bollox of a dog. Everybody I knew advised me to get rid of him, but that was never an option for me. He was a barnstormer when he managed to pick the same rabbit that I'd lit up. He knew from puppyhood how to quarter the field and fence the rabbit off from its escape. He would never commit to a strike until he was good and ready but when he did it was spectacular and efficient. Every single time he managed to get one turn out of the rabbit, it was his for the taking. But those times were few and far between. I wasted many a night out and ended up spending hours training him in the dark. Just sit stays and recalls. Suddenly it changed overnight. coursing mad 5 Posted December 21, 2009 Report Share Posted December 21, 2009 too many people tell lies about the dog saying " i dont have the time " ect. all you need to do is tell the truth and say its not working how it should be and the buyer knows exacly what he is expecting, if he dont want it he wont buy it, dont go saying that its a good dog if its not, because somebody will buy it thinking that its good and wuummphhh what do you know " ive got a 17 month old bull x for sale, very good dog but i havent simply got the time for him" SOLD again & again & again. if your dogs s**t give him away to a family as a pet, dont go breaking dogs hearts and waisting peoples time just too make your money back. Might aswell own a shitzu if thats the case. Come on get real it cost the same to feed a bad'un as it does a good'un and if your attatuide is "its the best becuase its mine", well that speaks volumes and im glad i dont run the dogs with you. i have picked dogs up from a dogs home and given them a chance,trained them up for hunting and they've given me theyr'e all,what more could i have asked from them?They've repaid with many a days good hunting and i've enjoyed their company.Maybe i have that rare quality called compassion for i don't view all dogs as tools,i like them to work, for it increases the dog's and my pleasure,but the best of it all is the dog was given a chance and took it,i am merely a spectator in the world of dogs but i have enjoyed the company of many discarded dogs,they are better than humans if treated right, Higgins Quote Link to post Share on other sites
