Colster 1
Picked up my CZ452 Silhouette today, popped a Simmons WTC scope on it and have to say damned nice. Kept nipping out as it got dark to see how well it worked under failing light and was very impressed. Not bad for a scope that cost me under £70 second hand without a mark on it and for rimfire ranges it will do the job no trouble. Heard others speak highly of MTC Mambas and Vipers for rimfires. I'd spend more on the one for your centrefire, go mad on a Schmidt and Bender. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
You won't go wrong with the 452. I suggest you get the T3 Hunter or the Remington...forget the T3 Lite! Glass is personal and can get expensive! Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
thanks deker, so the t3 lite rifles are no good i take it? Out of the box the T3 Lite is the worst balanced rifle I have ever held. Mine was the original full length barrel, about 3 years ago now! Had it cut and fitted an ASE S5...bit of a learning curve you could say...f*****g terrible balance, couldn't even keep it straight over my shoulder in the sling!! It has always shot well, but it was really hard work.....anyway, some 2.5 years later, another barrel chop and thread, 3 different moderators, about 5 different scopes I think, 2 sets of mounts and about 6oz of lead in the Butt its great!! A very long and painful and expensive journey. The T3 Hunter is straight out of the box with a P8 Compact on the end, and was great from day one!! Quote Link to post
adamthomas64 1
thanks for the advice i think it will be the t3 i go for now as ive heard the remingtons need a bit of work on them too but can be great rifles, have you had any experience with these? 20alex09 0
I've got a Remington 700 Tactical in .223 its very accurate out of the box. One thing I would suggest is to consider the weight of the rifle because when you start adding bits eg mod, bipod and a scope it can become heavy. Quote Link to post
Rifleman88 28
nice choice Adam, my fac is due anytime now and im going for the 452 style too. Quote Link to post
adamthomas64 1
would you say that the t3 would be a better option if your going to be doing your shooting on foot then mate? Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
thanks for the advice i think it will be the t3 i go for now as ive heard the remingtons need a bit of work on them too but can be great rifles, have you had any experience with these? I have a Remington 700 SPS Stainless in .308, about a year old now, has the X-Mark Pro Trigger. Took about 3 inches off the barrel (they are long anyway), fitted a P8 Compact and adjusted the trigger. Thats it, job done!! Much better balanced out of the box than the T3 lite and it shoots cheap 150g PRVI SP to 1". It is true to say that there is lots you can do to a Remington, much more than a Tikka. I have heard horror stories of how bad they can be, and how many rate the Tikkas in a different league (mind you, I have heard the odd horror tale about Tikkas as well). My experience does not necessarily concur with that view. The Tikka may have the "edge", but my Remington is a goodun. It may be that I have just been lucky, there are others who will probably say I have. I have 2 Tikkas and was nervous myself about buying a Remington, but I have been pleasantly surprised! Out of the box I would rate my Remington 700 SPS Stainless a better overall gun than my Tikka T3 Lite Stainless! Now I have done all the work on my T3 Lite it's a different story! The T3 Hunter wins though without doubt. Personal view of course based on my experiences and use of the rifles, others may have another view!! Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
would you say that the t3 would be a better option if your going to be doing your shooting on foot then mate? After using a mates T3 Lite I would say its a better option if you will use it on foot a lot. The Remington 700 Tactical weighs a ton, it is a good and accurate rifle but is not designed with day long walking in mind. Everything else in the Rem 700 range is lighter. Yes, absolutely, if you spend a lot of time on foot the T3 lite wins every time over the Rem 700 Tactical, but there are plenty of other Remingtons to look at!! Quote Link to post
