donnyc 1,203
Doesn't take a good dog to bolt a fox from a pipe/drain. But they sure can pull you out of it on an otherwise blank day When a fox is pushed to ground mid winter in a drain three quarters full of flowing freezing water and its 3 - 4 hundred yards long, no it doesnt take much of a dog to have him out..Drains and Drains not all are easy Quote Link to post
MISTY 11
Doesn't take a good dog to bolt a fox from a pipe/drain. But they sure can pull you out of it on an otherwise blank day Your right there fella ,it doesnt take a good dog to bolt a fox from a drain ,if the drain is full of ice cold water ,mud and silt you might find in some cases it would take more than a good dog to do the job ,jmho. Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Perspective lads ,perspective .Fresh foxes in artificials ,short drains will often bolt before dog has made contact so no achievement for the dog just mild work.We have had them out many a time with drain rods . .Foxes put in drains however can be the real devil incarnate especilly for a killing dog that cant get purchase on the sides to press home .A good strong dog will work, push his fox to the end where it can be dealt with. However, credit to the lads for using the border ,plummers for fox work when its very easy to use a tried and tested black strain . wink hound 0
. .Foxes put in drains however can be the real devil incarnate intresting, and very true, looks to me like a border would vouch for that. but obviousaly in wrong, only thems there know. Quote Link to post

Butler 396
Butler mate,i'll just say better to be thought of being a fool than opening your mouth and conferming it. Well i take many foxes a season from drains some pushed in some cold marked and IMO they are no big deal. Yes they may stand there ground a little but a determined dog can soon have them out.I may be a fool but i'm a happy one Quote Link to post
david2363 42
Good result there. Always nice to see a Border at the sharp end. Quote Link to post
