anyone use shooting sticks for a rest lamping rabbits to hold gun still, seen a deer stalking rest for £20 and looks ok

i use a stick with a V shape at the top some time if it's wet on the ground and makes it a bit more steady to aim

Seem to remember somone posting a thread on here about a home made version.

For sure a stick is helpful but something else to carry.

Cut yourself a good V topped stick from a hedge and see how you get on before lashing out cash.

Mind a long bipod prob better.

i've got one I made mysekf that I use to zero. I took the net outta my landing net, and shoved a suitably shaped stick in the hole - job done, and it folds into itself. bargin

A farmer i shoot with uses two lengths of thick bamboo and puts an old roadie push bike inner tube at the top it works quite well but i still prefer free hand its so much quicker and very effective if you have a steady hand.

I made one out of two sticks and some rubber tube for standing shots,took it out for a days shooting,but i got fed up of carrying it and threw it in the hedge halfway through the day.

Hi just a thought why not get a rod rest from a fishing tackle shop only a couple of pounds fully adjustable height and light to carry cheers Alan
