advice on lamp training

Recommended Posts

1. Hare courseing ahas been banned for a long time

2. dont mention it on open forums,

Get you lamp and go out with your dog as often as you can, if it is lamp-shy try to get them used to it,

try to get it running down the lamp to the end of the beam, do this again and again until it gets it right

when you have done this, get the dog to run down the lamp to some squatters, and see if he can pick them off, if the rabbit runs keep the lamp on the rabbit, then aswell as the dog being able to see better, you should see the whole thing aswell..

Just keep walking the dog on a sliplead up to squatters , (keeping the lamp on the rabbit) and quietley talking to the dog "look" "look" if the rabbit stays put , when you know the dog has seen it and is pulling on lead , slip it. If the rabbit bolts , follow it with beam but only slip the dog if you know its seen the rabbit. Keep on doing it and the penny will drop. Most likely sooner than you think. If you mutter to the dog "look", "look" everytime you light up a rabbit the dog will associate that with what the beam is about.

All the best....
