johnmac666 2 Posted December 15, 2009 Report Share Posted December 15, 2009 went to check on the ferrets this afternoon to find my jill looking a bit swollen & looking like she is coming in season ? have made appointment for vets in morning just to make sure,or maybe my hob is maturing & trying to get it on with her, has anyone else had a jill come into season in november ?i am keeping an eye on them overnight to see if he is having a go, checked her neck but no signs of being ragged about, will let you know what happens, any advice would be appreciated regards & Merry Xmas Quote Link to post

Had ferrets for 16yrs and never had it myself. I know that ferrets living in false light situations / indoors can come in season at funky time, due to the seasons of the year usually dictating breeding season in animals. lorelei0922 2 Posted December 15, 2009 Report Share Posted December 15, 2009 yes it is possible for a young jill to come into season this early.. even kept outdoors in natural lighting... i had one last year in November and several people on another forum have had them in season already this year as well... pop to the vet for a jab ... Is that experienced advice have spoke to a few of me mates & they have heard of them coming into season early,like people have said . keeping jills & hobs together is common practice this time of year manx. have split them up for tonight so she can get some peace , done my head in, as they are this years kits 7 month old, cheers for replies people as i thought i was going mad , hopefully get her jabbed in the morning, regards & merry xmas Edited December 15, 2009 by johnmac666 Quote Link to post

andy mecca 5 Posted December 15, 2009 Report Share Posted December 15, 2009 why on earth are you keeping jills and hobs together? no problem keeping them together better of with a bit of company be it mixed or segregated. i also have seen this before a couple of winters ago we where leaving the lights on in the shed for a few hours after dark and the jills came into season we put this down to the extension of daylight Quote Link to post
