for adult dogs once a day and at what ever time suits you best, i tend not to feed at all on Sundays. under no circumstances would i leave food out all day, i don't get the thinking behind that at all, why would you not want your dogs to eat a meal at one sitting, its the natural thing for them to do.

Once a day, i wouldn't leave food down for them nout worse than a picky eater. If your working your dog hard and out 7 nights on the trot you need to put feed down for your dog and make sure they polish so you no what they have ate ready for the next night. Also if your planning a night out you need to feed your dog early enough so they aren't running on a full stomach something you cant do if you leave feed in with them, because they might just decide to eat a load of feed 10 minutes before you take them out.

Mine eats when he feels like it as food is left all day. He is with me all day mon-fri so gets a small pack of meat at lunch and feeds himself at night  He is a perfectly conditioned dog with no fat just good solid muscle so it obviously works fine for him

If i had more than 1 dog then they would be fed once a day as they would then eat all in one session due to competition between dogs.

I feed twice a day main meal early morning and a light meal evenings. I find that twelve hours from morning feed to an evenings lamping is enough for them to empty and a light meal on return helps to restock the energy reserves without overloading. If not working just a couple of biscuits in the evening to settle. Theres no reason to starve a working dog once a week, or any dog realy.
