broadmouth 0
i have an english mastiff and he is pretty much old school in temperament. he is not people friendly when it comes to strangers, he has a very distrustful and reserved attitude. so he is a real deal guard dog! i like the way he is, but i intend to breed him to another breed next time. my goal is to keep his distrustful attitude for the offspring, but to get some prey drive, so that the offspring could catch a boar, or lets say if it is fast enough, to have the right attitude also for boar hunting. we all know that the great dane aka german mastiff was a dog like i have described it right now. it is a mastiff x sighthound cross and used to be a boar hunter as well as a guard dog. on another board half a year ago, they told me forget it. if you want a dog that can hunt and is a great guard dog and also human aggressive, get a bully kutta. i only know the bully kutta as a fighting dog and doubt it is the perfect hunter and guard dog. my first thought was to breed my EM to a greyhound, but then i thought an american staghound is a tougher in fighting large game, as well as an australian staghound or kangaroo dog. with said that i would like to get a very good guard dog in my offspring as i admire my EM for that, but would like to add a tough prey driven dog. the result has not to be a top hunter, as i guess the dog will be too heavy, but it should have good amount of prey drive added by a tough hound and still be a large dog with the "unfriendly/distrustful" attitude towards strangers. i would appreciate advice from you! some people told me only an apbt could add all this, but then i would have the stocky and boring swinford cross and that's not what i am looking for, as i think hounds can be very tough as well! so please just tell me which breed could exactly make such an F1 cross kind regards and thanks in advance

broadmouth 0
so which pain resistant & tough sighthound would you suggest for a cross ? this has gotta be a joke...... why a joke??????????????????? because a mastiff has to be an overdone, fat dog with a lot of useless skin hanging down each and everywhere? i am glad that i don't own such a modern show crap mastiff!
