Give the lad some credit even if he did sink 3 holes, people who get out and dig will know its not always easy for the dog to get up to its quarry in them tight bits as long as it was backfilled and they had a result! :clapper:

FOXES DON'T DIG AWAY FROM A DOG SO THERE REALLY SHOULD ONLY BE 1 HOLE??? :hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm:

Ok so you say they dont dig on. I accept that BUT what do you do when the fox has squeezed on and on. Pushed so hard he is up a hole size of your fist and your dogs shoulders are still stuck further back down the hole. I would like to have a day with you and your dogs. This is not an attack post. I am purely saying in my short digging carrer I have had to open up a couple of holes on a few occassions where dog is stuck and is trying to get on. Either where you live you only have big enough holes, your dog must be narrowest dog going, or you just hunt very fat foxes. Please do not take this as an attack. But I have dug with many terrier men of different packs and when a fox is under pressure or a fox during cubbing time I have seen them go into small rabbit holes never mind big ones. And to me in these situations the only way is to open up couple of times and widden the hole for the dog to get on. All the best and Good hunting.

P.s the end goal is as long as you get your fox dead, your dog alive and the place well back filled who cares.
