JohnGalway 1,043
Blessed by good weather here the last couple of days. Cold, crisp, blue sky. Supposed to be light or patchy rain tonight mind you. Other than that, field conditions are atrocious given the previous bad weather we had. Everywhere is wet or in a muck. Long spell of stable cold weather would be great. Quote Link to post

black lab 3
weather looks ok for tomorrow and wed, How are you doing with the roe black lab, Dry frosty morning YE HA! went out for a stalk this morning{before light} planted my bum at the corner of a plantation of young trees in tubes approx 40acres, scanned area with bino's and there were 3 Roes spotted just inside wood, watched them for 20mins then they started to coming out of wood into new plantation, bin's up again & noticed it was Doe's approx 400-500yards from me, before i even thought of which way to stalk up to them, they scampered back into the wood, i knew they had not winded me nor seen me, then a woman appeared over the hill with 2 border collies, end of that stalk, sat until she approached where i was sitting, putting rifle down out of her view, said the usual good morning and she said sorry for spoiling my stalk as she had noticed my 4x4 but did not know where i was, sat for another hour then Charlie appeared shot him about 120 yards then went a drive about estate, to many people walking about{it is a Country Park} called it a day,may come back down later on before dark, as its only 3 mins drive from my house. How did you get on then? Never went back out there was a very bad car crash, very close to where i have seen the Roe's, traffic police, fire engine's the lot, the road was closed so i just turned back, went out this morning to the same area, sat at my usual spot behind drystane dyke, waited 10mins then a Roe came out of the woods into the plantation and made its way down towards me, it was very windy this morning would have cut right throught you, eyes watering the lot,[north easterly] waited until she was approx yards from me then took the shot and she dropped it the spot, and no meat damage unless you want to eat the head!LOL, then went down the road dropped it off at the chill, went back up to estate and gave the crows a bit of a battering the farmer had just sprayed shit on some fields, and i just wanted to fire off some ammo so i had some brass to reload another round that i want to try out. black lab 3
At least she was nice enough to apologise I know her just to say hello, she stay's in one of the cottages where i drive pass to get onto one of the plantations, and one of my rules is "it's nice to be nice" cost's me nothing, where she stay's there is about five cottages and one of them has a very large cat its crossed with a bob cat, short tail, large ear's pointed with the tuff,s of long hair from the tip's , it's just a kitten she say's just a bit smaller than my lab,it's paws are the same size as my fist, comes up and purr's against your let just like a cat! when i am out for the foxes with the lamp she shites her self if it's out just incase i shoot it [as if] would make a lovely rug in my shooting room LOL. will be a something to look forward to when it grows up, as far as i know she has a licence to keep it, as it is a dangerous animal, still recon it's no match for my .270/140gr ballistic tips LOL.
