bandit man 9
well we did the big roadside edge this morning, i had 100 yd longnet out on the roadside and the lads had the purse nets in the field, after about an hour two walkers past us and asked if the big net was used to keep the badgers in , what badgers are them then i replied we are ferreting for rabbits and off they walked any way i said to my mate i bet they saw countryfile last week an think we're after badgers, within 20 mins a land rover pulls up asking what we were up to, guess what it's only the north yorks police farm watch and they've had a report that some blokes were after badgers, after a quick look round and a little chat they were quite satified that you cant bolt badgers with ferrets they left us to do our business one of them even took one of my cards to hand to a local farmer who has bunny problems, so thanks to john bias craven :wankerzo4: for nearly fooking up my day! anyway end result was 14 healthy rabbits Quote Link to post

higgins 75
f*****g nosey c**ts next time you see them give them something to call the fuzz for That's the problem with programmes like Countryfile,it creates a nosey parker culture and everyone starts ringing the relevant authorities to investigate incidents, where is it going to stop? This is another good reason to support a protest about the ban and get it repealed, because the ban interferes with our right to roam and restricts movement,i wonder if that was the 'real intention' of the ban,a way of controlling movement amongst the masses, being treated similar to a terrorist, after all if no one goes out much because of all the trouble you have to put up with explaining yourself and the fact that you have permission or not it will very soon put you off, then the roads and countryside are easier for the police to control, makes you think does'nt it? droid 11
Thats what happens when you let the uneducated have the right to roam the countryside Two points: 1) The incident above took place on a roadside, not affected by the recent 'Right to Roam' legislation. 2) Are you saying that only bona fide 'hunters' should have this right? Carry on diggin and remember the more you speak to the more rabbits that may be wanted which means more money in your pocket (if you sell) or more meat in the freezer if not. lets hope your card gets banded around more farmers. 14 rabbits is a fair result. DIG ON i agree mate i didnt have a problem with the farm watch police as they were two decent lads who knew the score, nor did i have a problem with the other dozen or so people who stopped to talk to us, it's the people who think that taking rabbits for the pot is a big no no then go and have their sunday roast in the big hotel at the top of the lane! comanche 3,025
Countryfile in its own inimitable way did its bit to make Joe public aware of certain countryside crimes . Its done . Unfortunatly Joe public may well not be able to differentiate between a guy with a stripey tee shirt and a swag-bag full of badgers and terriers and a chap working his ferrets or dogs after legal game with the full permission of the landowner . In stead of getting all het up and angry because perhaps we should make the best of a bad job and use the opertunity to explain what we are doing to concerned ramblers and the like . If the police turn-up ,its a pain but be polite and explain the nature of the game . It could even save you getting pulled late at night if the gavvers recognise your vehicle and know that you have permission to be where you are . Some folk will never be swayed but at least if we -the hunters -do and say the right thing we will have the moral highground . Quote Link to post
