Bedlinton whippet vs whippet

Recommended Posts

I agree with mally as the only thing that a beddy brings to the cross is coat to the mix.How ever grey/beddy and whippwt/grey/beddys are a totally different ball game to the 18tts whippet/beddys.I have been fortunate to see quite a few of these crosses over the years and have found a good whippets catch rate has been higher than the beddy/whippets even on industrial waste lands and colliery spoil heaps.atb dell

CW thats a cracking looking beddy hybred.A lad called simon from rotherham had one in the early 90s very similar and was a VERY good dog and he did not pay that much for it from such a well respected figure in the lurcher world who even brought the pup up from down south as he was comeing up norththumbs.gifvictory.gif

any pure whippets ive seen shiver in rain and cold maybee not them all. and they have thin skin that tears easy the bedlington adds a thicker skin and coat which imo makes them a bit more robust for colder weather i think 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy is a good cross,we bred some and nearly all the pups looked like well built whippets, imo the little bit of bedlington makes them have more stamina and be a little tougher

having worked both breeds the whippet cant be improved at all using a bedlington if we are comparing the whippet to a firstcross .... however a 3/4 whippet 1/4 bedlington is a diffrent kettle of fish .. i dont think there is much between them speed wise but it does improve the jacket a bit and does give a bit more heart for bigger stuff .. this is only my opinion having worked both for many years
