I went a walk yesterday & saw a couple of the goosander but again there just to far away to get a clear pic , i also spotted this one , i assume its some part of the goosander family as it looks very like the other 2 but a different colour

 

So does anyone know what it is

Got me this time Kate,

Gadwall, pintail????

 

 

I am trying to match it to some pics on google not got anything that looks anything like it yet , i will try your sugestions now :laugh:

Well done, I've only ever seen them in books :clapper:

 

 

i have just seen some pics of the starling roost that were taken up the lake last week so i am going later to see if i cant get some pics , cant wait :laugh:

I'm just back from a walk in -3 with fog as that you couldn't see your hand in front of you....

 

took the camera out but didn't get much... And i missed some great pics if i only had a zoom lens....... :(

 

 

In now to thaw out before dinner.... lol

Wouldnt worry about it , i miss things WITH a zoom lens :laugh:

I miss stuff everyday , the only way i can get what i want bird wise is to just wait , i saw some tiny little garden birds yesterday & i have no idea what they were but i missed them, so i figured if i just wait where i keep seeing them & watch i will eventually get a pic

 

Its very frustrating & if your as ultra impatient like i am its like a see of boiling oil ready to blow & then you get what you want & it dont matter

 

One think i have been doing is memorising where i see stuff , counting fence stumps to pin point the spot if i see stuff in the same area several times & i alway go out on my own as i hate company because i like to let whats round me completly fill my head , sometimes i dont even hear the traffic , you just switch off from that kind of thing but all i can hear is water running & birds

 

You really use your other sences apart from sight & hearing
