wren 8
We owned a first cross Irish Terrier / Whippet many years ago. She was a nowt nor something pup so - big mistake - had her speyed. She turned into a belting little worker, lamping, bushing, could take hares - it was legal then - and had a great nose. Never worked her with ferrets as we didn't keep them at the time. She stood 19 inches and was black rough coated. Now the 'plastic hunter' bit - she won the occasional rossette at a show, not pretty enough, but did win simulated coursing stuff, and obedience competitions on the rare occasion I entered. A great little dog who was still in full work at nearly 10 . She retired herself one night on the lamp, but still enjoyed bushing till the day she died. My greatest regret is that we had her speyed, I could have sold ten litters of pups and kept her line going for myself. Shame Irish Terriers are becoming a bit of a rarity.
