wuzzy 0
hi all i've just recently acquired a Kerry beagle 10 months old,it appears he is scared of everything and i mean everything , bus stops, gaps in walls, people, cars, loud noises but the people we had him off said he has always been that way, i,m now wondering what i can do for him ? do i take to what he fears and show him there is nothing ? or do i let him run away from everything?? i need some advice he,s the first dog i've had who behaves like this.i would like to maybe one day shoot vermin over him but i know he is a long way off that yet and i know beagles can be hard headed in the field but for now i would be content with getting him settled, thanks. BEARINATOR 2,872
It sounds like he hasn't been socialised, just take him out when there is nothing to scare him to start with then gradually introduce him to everyday sounds and sights like people or cars and things like that, good luck with him:thumbs: Quote Link to post

Sounds like you've got your work cut out mate. I would go right back to the start and go from there, best thing is introduce new things slowly during time when the dog is relaxed (ie when eating) Try not to show frustration or emotion infront of the dog. If it aint working give up and come back to it tomorrow. Always end when the dog gets it right and wants more. Good luck with the re-training ATVB Kie Quote Link to post
wuzzy 0
cheers fellas he seems OK with other dogs and as soon as he is in the field he loves it,although i darn t let him off the line yet its just the road and associated things that seems to set him off, oh and another thing is he seeking attention when he starts trying to bring his food up?? while as soon as we turn to him and take him outside he stops ,just don't like cleaning up sick all day or do we have another problem on our hands?? BEARINATOR 2,872
Trying to seek attention when he tries to bring food up mate (it's like he is trying to fit in the pack) , when he starts just take him in the garden and when he is out there give him plenty of attention till he stops Quote Link to post
wuzzy 0
cheers fella thats what i did this time(cant be doing with anymore dog sick today) thats when i realized he stopped as soon as we were doing something with him i will have to pay more attention to him when he;s walking around the house looking for someone to play with thanks again for the info i was getting worried that there was something seriously wrong with him Quote Link to post
BEARINATOR 2,872
Like I said in my first post lack of socialisation, whether in the house or outside. The poor dog hasn't had any in my opinion so good for you for getting him and hopefully at 10 months he isn't spoilt mentally. Good luck with him mate:thumbs: Quote Link to post
