I have been told you should never fire a rifle into water as the bullet hits the water so hard it ricochets but I don't know if an air rifle pellet would be going fast enough? Just something to watch out for.

Sub sonic rounds such as air pellets (and many rim and centre fire rounds) will just make their way to the bottom of the water.

Hypersonic rounds will disintegrate as they hit the water

The chance of a bounce is millions to one.

Am I the only one who watches Myth Busters on Discovery?

no phantom i also watch myth busters and rather enjoy all of the gun myths too espicially firing a .50 cal into a swimming pool to find out how far it goes down. any way i say shoot as long as it is in season and good luck doing it too because they are rather hard to get close to and they seem to have the ability of knowing when you have a gun and when you dont have a gun. and also in water there is no way a bullet can rebound back towards you only bounce of the water away from you.

your not the only i watch it, did you watch the one were they fired bullets into the swimming pool to see how far it went, any way me and my dad took three mallards out with a rapid 7 22 try and shoot the ones that are close to the bank so you cn get them out the water easy we had to use a fishing net to get them out.
