Neal 1,860
That's a pretty impressive list of names, though I have to admit I only recognized one: David Bellamy. I've heard several times over the last few years that things like CO2 (are those the right letters?) emissions by the world's oceans are far greater than those by man and that many pieces of evidence fed to us by the world's press simply don't add up. I still turn off the light whenever I leave the room but simply because I want to make the situation better rather than because all of us doing it will be able to stop the south coast being underwater in x years time. Nik_B 3,790
There are cyclical changes in sea level and temperature. The larger ones are cycles of of 10's of millions of years there are smaller and smaller ones. The very idea that they can make judgements on global temperature measured over just 10 years is utterly rediculous. It is highly likey that the earth is exiting an ice age and that the sea level and therefore temperature will rise over the next few HUNDRED THOUSAND years and there will be nothing we can do about it. The earth has survived catastrophic meteorite hits, periods of massive volcanic activity etc etc and is still hear and so is nature and animals. We should be more concerned about polution and the global population levels spiraling out of control that some mumbo jumbo unproven climate science which in my opinion is really all about globalisation and world economy. Swampy 147
http://scienceandpublicpolicy.org/reprint/open_letter_to_un.html This is not new. Some of you may already know that I am sceptical about many things and that I believe that conspiracy theories are not always "theories". We have been sold a pup for decades. Globalisation is happening on a grand scale without the majority even batting an eye. We have been bombarded with so much legislation of the last 30yrs that we have become apathetic to any new policy. This is the policy of boring us into submission. Until people wake up and see what's happening to our society because of consequetive governments who have conspired with other states. Europe, USA, China and the Middle East we wil become slaves to a flawed bureaucratic organisation run by an oligarchy of the select few. C'mon wake up and smell the napalm! Rgds Swampy Dosser its your turn now! I only ning I don't polute I do believe this as well. The BBC is so powerful and is supporting it. The climate change 'debate' walk madness where there was not a single scientist present and the only 'denier' was a woman from the daily mail who was there to be burned as a heritic. The highlight was some imbecile shouting "After the flooding in Cumbria this week, how dare you say there is not global warming!?". I'd laugh if it wasn't so tragic. Education dumbed down to a level that people believe any old shite from the telly, government sponsored mob hysteria to help their politic aims.
Swampy 147
During the WWII and since, the BBC world service was recognised as an independant uniased broadcaster. However; How can a gov't financed organisation ever be unbiased? Eve programmes like country file have been obliged to "tow the political line". Don't even get me started on "question time"! The question is; How do we convince the "sheep"? I fear it is too late. rgds Swampy Not a slavish ning to be heard from me

PeakOil 352
There is a name for the BBC, outside the UK - State television. As far as "climate change" is concerned get ready to pay more tax. This extra tax won't be ring fenced and used to plant trees, carry out R & D on hydrogen fuel cells / electric cars, be used to build wind, water or solar power generation systems or move the UK away from dependency oil / gas / coal. Add to that carbon credits and carbon trading facilitated by big banks, taking another pound of flesh in fees and commission related to carbon trading. The cost of that is inevitably paid by the proles.
bolio 49
It's heartening to see that I'm not alone in my views on this board. Unfortunately so many people believe all they're told by the media and don't do their own research.
donk 12
Had this conversation with my girlfriend a few weeks ago,but as i said to her at the time, 'its only my theory, its not like i have done any reaearch on the subject'. Then the other night she text me and said something along the lines of 'oh my god your theory is on the news!!!!! ' Its all bollox, same as this recycling mularky. All recycling is doing is providing some businessman with free materials that he can re-use and make money out of. The world is in a recession, how do we get out of it? Well why dont we tax the working types to an even higher level. How do we do that? We make them pay even more for something that they already have or use,but we tell them that if we dont charge them even more for it then they will be contributing to the demise of the world, but, that if they do pay more for it then they will be contributing to saving the world. Oh and just so that they dont dig too deep and start thinking about what we are saying about one topic,we can distract them with another topic. So lets mention that bankers are receiving billions in bonuses and that this government is going to stop all of that because the bankers are very naughty people. Its all a game people. Good cop,bad cop.
Neal 1,860
Re Nik Bs earlier post: I remember when I was at secondary school, way back in the early 80s, one of my science teachers telling us that we're still in the ice age. He claimed that the ice age has peaks and troughs and it's just that we're currently on a peak.
Sighthound 49
I studied ecology years ago at Uni and remember a respected prof telling me what a load a bollocks it all was, although in a more eloquent way He said that for years the life science departments had been struggling for money and many departments had closed down. Global warming and the subsequent influx of research money created an ‘Environmental industry’ for the first time these ‘scientists’ were in demand and as the saying goes ‘don’t bite the hand that feeds’. It is a self perpetuating con. I still remember as a kid being worried because I watched a programme telling us to expect a ‘new ice age’!
Dosser 52
The main consensus of opinion says the world is warming, the question is is it our fault ? It would be prudent to turn out the light just in case, however, the shadowy figures who realy run the show will use the green issue to interfere in our lives even more. Some say they have fabricated the whole thing, just for that purpose.
