No, very little protein in tripe ,unless it is the raw stuff you do yourself ,and even then its not too clever.

one down side of too much protein is that it puts too much strain on the dogs kidneys, depending on the type of work i dont see a need for feeding above 27% protein. If the dog is doing a lot of strength work as oppossed to endurance then maybe higher protein this may be more relevant in wild fowling dogs working in the water for longer periods than a dog running in normal conditions.

Having a high protein diet wont hurt your dog.

If the dog gets out often then having a high protein diet will maintain and build healthy strong muscles.

You shouldn't just aim for food with a high protein content though, you wanna make sure they get enough fat and calcium as well.

Theres a member on here called Rainmaker, he is excellent with all this sort of stuff. He put a link up in this forum a few weeks ago which had some excellent information about whats best for a dog.

The bloke is a gent and knows what he is talking about so give him a pm I'm sure he'll help you out :good:

High protein diets in dogs are still under scrutiny and the risk of long term harm is unlikely with otherwise healthy animals but not excluded yet. There is research that suggests it slows race times and is unecessary, around 25% has been suggested for sprint type animals.

I started a post on this but haven't had much time but will find and post it later.
