doxhope 2
Hi Welshwizard he is 35tts it's like watching a tanker turn. Canny size Helen, but Ive had a pure deerhound that killed 27 rabbits in one nights work, and also took bolting rabbits in the daylight. One bitch I had also won through to the semi finals of a lamping copmpetition against lurchers..so their not all that bad. But, an average lurcher is probaly better than a good deerhound for rabbits..and theres plenty of them knocking about now, hope you get what you are looking for Quote Link to post
countryman5 5
I joined the forum as I have given up with my Deerhound, he's too big to turn fast enough, and I wanted info on which cross to buy for hunting rabbits, day time and lamping. Well after reading for several months I still have no idea and am more confused than when I joined lol. try somthing small for rabbit, bed cross collie x both would be sound for bunnies but no good for out else deerhound x far to big for rabbits Quote Link to post
Helen 2
Hi Doxhope, I waited thirty years to get my Deerhound so settled for a show line dog, he looks more Wolfhound and hasn't really got a lot of interest in hunting. He is a lovely dog but I wish I could have found a working line dog, mine also has allergy problems. Quote Link to post
countryman5 5
I do not know what I am talking about so nobody take offence! But I really like the look of the Bullx, fantastic muscle tone and I think stunning dogs. I have noticed a few disagreements on here re bullx, why, have they got temperament problems. cos there full of pit terrier not a social dog in general, but when sorted out cant be beaton allround machines Quote Link to post

Helen 2
Thats a shame about the Bullx not being social, amazing looking dogs but I don't think I want to take on another dog that is such a responsibility. Can you get them Staffy crossed or wouldn't they be any good. Quote Link to post

Helen 2
So many crosses to choose from, have decided next time someone offers me a lurcher pup or I see one offered for rehoming I'll go for that. Problem of choice solved as long as it's got good feet it's mine. Quote Link to post
freem 25
Great bitch for rabbits, collie/grey deer/saulk, great on the turns, brings them back alive, very easy to train, and a joy to work, ya cant go wrong with collie hound. Irish lurcher, thats a cracker of a dog, very nice Quote Link to post
