whip_pet 0
I AM SO PEE'D OFF!! I spent all day yesterday making some snares out of sticks and wire....(i found how to do it from this site) somewhere! I was very pleased with what i had made. So i've just come back from walking the dogs on the field and i took all my rubbish snares out and put my new ones out. Went walking further down the field to see where else i could put some more so i know how many to make and a bloke was walking his dog. Anyway..... I was walking back home after finishing taking all the rest of my old snares out thought i would double check my new ones. The bloke was walking back in my direction then he shouted.... "did you put them traps out?" i said "yes" then he asked what for??? So i said rabbits then he went mental... its against the law blah blah so i said not for rabbits its not!! Anyway he thought he was right, so i said well go and check online then. Then he said what if my dog got caught in one, so i replied well you should keep an eye on your dog when its off the lead. He went well if it gets caught in one i know where to come!! So i replied you'll have to find out where i live 1st mate!!! Finally.... I went to check my snares ......... GONE!!!!! all but 1! he had took them and never said anything.... what an a'hole!!! So it looks like im going to have to go elsewhere or buy a second had air rifle all coz of that miserable git! GRRRR!! Quote Link to post
Foxy09 3
An arsehole he probably is, but setting snares where there are dog walkers and dogs running around free is just asking for trouble and not good practice. Foxy Quote Link to post

comanche 2,941
To be honest you probably had a lucky escape . If he or a child or an animal got caught in one of your snares you could be facing a big claim for compensation at the very least !. Setting snares (as Foxy9 has said ) where people and livestock have access is a real no-go even if you have permission . On the other hand nicking your snares makes him guilty of theft ! So if you were on the land legally with full permission to snare rabbits and he was trespassing you should be finding out where he lives because you can bet your life he'll have the next lot of snares you put down too. Guest ROUGH COATED
DRAG HIM down the field with a BIG snare and kick him up the ARSE! Quote Link to post
ratattack 111
Serves you right for trying to be cocky to a person who was obviously against what you were doing! I wouldn't have left anything there for the tit to steal. If you were there legally with permission and there is no public right of way or livestock in the fields then report him to the police for theft and take it from there. It will probably put the wind up him if they can find out who he is. Quote Link to post
stubby 175
just because rabbits are classed as pests, does not give you automatic rights to snare them, as stated, is it a right of way footpath, do you have snaring permission, and dont say its common land, all land belongs to someone Quote Link to post
