AL BUNDY 45
years ago when out coursing without permission etc .seldom would you have much bother with walkers and ramblers contacting the cops as too far from a phone. In modern times with the mobile phone it has resulted in a lot more prosecutions with having istant access to a phone. The mobile phone is a great bit of technology but maybe a thorn in the side for some of us who like a stray from time to time . whats your thoughts ? ATB ANDRI The biggest thorn in the side for lurchmen and women is arseholes running on land they do not have permission on ,often losing hard earned land for those who have taken the trouble to ask for permission. No matter how often it is illustrated by the negative publicity ,and programmes such as the recent country file one ,some just don't get it, never have ,never will. i thought it was illegal to course even if u have permission to walk land get off your high horse inan young lads dont have the same opportunities as we all did Ah you see it only takes a few young/old/middle aged people to ruin it for everyone who works their dogs with permission and doesnt break the simple rules. A fine example, yesterday i get a call from an unknown farmer. He wanted to meet me at his estate as he needed a trust worthy person to keep the pests away. It turns out that the last person who was young bwoi decided to take Tom dick and harry on the estate after being told not to. Also due to wet conditions he was told not to drive on the paths. What does he do yesterday the total opposite. It was bye bye time for that young bwoi. See theres a few people who are being very naughty around my way, at night and day time. Their time will come, i hope they like surprises. Simple rules eh! have you ever listened to your self would not be surprised if the nearest youve been to dog work is letting it run round a swing park or as your friends do letting them cook in the back of there van . Edd_Wiltshire 9
Guys I think we need to stick together not argue and bicker. A small minority have used the shortcut of driving vehicles across fields and ruining the sport for others by bringing heat around the sport as a whole. This is blindingly obvious to me but some others out there find in necessary to carry on this way and bring the coppers from underneath their rock and bother us. This means being smart and not taking risks, leaving places untouched and not driving on land without permission. Few on here can say hand on heart they haven’t had a quick shine on the other side of the fence/field so come on lads, be smart and hunt with some stealth and good luck! Quote Link to post
Born Hunter 17,751
This is completely off topic, but i get the impression that whenever the subaru lads have been doing their thing its always dog lads getting blamed.......... Well can i just say that not only dog lads are driving scoobys all over farmers crops! Our local land has been done by them and it isnt dog lads, foxes with big f*****g holes in them left to rot by the tyre tracks arnt the result of the sharp end of a bull cross! Like i said, off topic but somthing that hasnt been mentioned on this site yet! As soon as poaching in 4x4s is mentioned its dog lads that are imediately blamed. Quote Link to post

andyrose 8
on the subject of permission, i live not to far from sheffield, and try as i might i can't get permission. i don't even mention dogs, just ask for permission to ferret, and hope to get a foot in the door. but alas to no avail. I've taken up drystone walling as a bargaining tool, 2 years fecking hard work in all weathers, still no joy. Around this area we seem plagued by real rural crime like landrover and quad thefts, so they seem to think if they don't let people on their land, they cut down the risks. which you can't blame them for that, but what do you do? give the game up completely? there's nothing i'd like more than to walk on the right side, but not everyone can find the stile to get on the right side Quote Link to post

Guest TERRIERCENTRAL
THE REASON WHY PEOPLE RISKS THEIR DOGS THEIR LICENSE ETC IS BECAUSE THEY ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT GETTING SPORT FOR THEIR DOGS THEY DONT SEE WHY THEY SHOULD SUBMIT TO AN UNJUST BAN ON A SPORT WHICH USED TO BE LEGAL NOT SO VERY LONG AGO!! WHY SHOULD PEOPLE SIT BACK AND TAKE THIS THEFT OF OUR LIBERTYS? IF EVERYONE FELT LIKE YOU NO ONE WOULD KEEP LURCHERS ANYMORE EXCEPT FOR RABBITING AND GOOD LINES WOULD COMPLETELY DIE OUT THE GOVERNMENT WOULD GO OH LOOK EVERYONES OBEYING THIS LAW WE HAVE PASSED WHAT CAN WE BAN NEXT?? GUNS? FISHING? THE KEEPING OF ANIMALS AS PETS? IF SOMETHINGS UNFAIR YOU HAVE TO FIGHT AND KEEP ON FIGHTING AND NEVER GIVE UP WINSTON CHURCHILL GAVE A SPEECH ABOUT IT. NOW I DONT AGREE WITH DRIVING OVER CROPS AND CAUSING DAMAGE YOUR RIGHT THERE BUT THATS THE ONLY BIT I CAN AGREE. MIND YOU THE MORE WET, GUTLESS PEOPLE WHO GET OUT OF HUNTING WITH DOGS THE MORE SPORT THERE IS FOR THE REST OF US WHO WILL NEVER GIVE UP OR GIVE IN exactly right mate and i dont agree with driveing across crops but if someone is poaching but walking the land respecting the land causing no damage and getting a few runs on hare wich are eating the crops anyway.if i was a land owner i wouldnt mind at all no harm done . Can you name one coursing competition ,run illegally ,ie without permission that had hundreds of people trespassing to watch it? The problem with the competitions that were staged legally , run very professionally and ,paid handsomely for, was that some of the spectators came back uninvited, for " afters".This spelt the death of them. Yes [bANNED TEXT] rambo ran J.W king also it came on top with lots of spectators [bANNED TEXT] the tiny bitch ran a bitch called peggy i believe at peterbourough. Quote Link to post
