410 baikal

right im after a hush powered or silenced 410 and have used the baikal 410 with synthetic stock and was on the look out for one unfortunatly there on back order and may take a while to come through

they have plenty in wood

i was advisaed from a friend not to get wood as the stock is for want of a better word shite

can crack easy ect

when ringing up various gun shops and explain the dilemma they have said they have sold loads of wooden ones and never had a problem

obviously there not totaly impartial and trying to get a sale and shift stock so i was wondering if anyone on here had any experiance with either or knew of one local to lincs or yorkshire for sale

i`ve got a baikal 12 bore and .410 they may not be pretty but they are solid, have had the 12 bore for 20 years, i reckon i could club an elephant to death with it then leave it at the bottom of a river all night to wash the blood off and still go pigeon shooting the next day

yeah i have heard they are pure work horses

tbh i dont want a gun for show it is what it is i just dont want to spen £300 on a gun and the stock break after a few uses

i was told there beech wood?

I have a couple of baikals a .410 hushpower and a 12g s/s and have not had any problems the 12g ended up in the river for a couple of hours a quick wipe down and oil up and it was  as good as new

i got a silensed biakal 410 with wood stock only had it few months, but seems a solid little gun and its very quiet, the wood stock is very plain as is most 410 stocks

if you would prefere a synthetic kexby country store in kexby, gainsborough is where i got mine he's usually got a few in there number is 01427787157 they'll not be the cheapest around but like i say he's normally got them in.

as for the baikal in wood you can't go wrong mate only downside is they get scratched like any wood stock, personally i would say go for synthetic but purely for cosmetic and practicality

My very first shotgun was a Baikal U/O wooden stock which I purchased second hand over twenty years ago. I still have the gun and have shot god knows how many thousands of rounds, tens of thousands would be more like it.

 

The gun will out last me for sure.

I had a synthetic one with a 9" mod on i swapped if for a fully modded wooden one

I prefer the wood, I doubt you could break either through normal use or even normal abuse.

I know a bloke who loaded some cartridges for goose and got quite wrong somewhere along the line.

He fired one through his Baikal o/u and it split the forend in half!

He took it to york guns who said it was undamaged and ordered another forend for it.

You got to love those Russian Purdeys

Me too. bought 2nd hand about 1990. Only sold has had more money then sense

 

The only fault I've ever seen with these guns is that when a bit aged they can fire both barrels on the 1st shot, and thats not allways a bad thing

 

Also nothing but nothing wrong with beech. Harder tighter grained that most hardwoods, but just a bit "plain",
