For out on the fields something like a tracer max (400 m) beam will be fine. Dont forget that when you put the filter on, it reduces light even further.

Maybe a compromise would be something like the tracer mini ( 250 m beam ).

I used to use a logun lamp on my airgun and that was a 100 beam. Sometimes this wasnt quite enough. Ideally having a small lamp for around farmyards etc and then a bigger lamp for the fields would be the best way to go if you can stretch to it, but id go for more, rather than less.

Just quickly edited to say that lazer dot sights can be usefull, but id suggest just getting to know the milldots on your scope at different ranges. Generally its best to keep it simple.Spend the money on a decent lamp and battery instead.

cheers for the info, been looking at a few options was looking at this too - Tracer Atom http://www.airrifleshop.co.uk/Accessories/Lamps.htm

any better??

I don't fancy a massive lamp on top of the gun, i only tend to shoot on the golf courses by me occasionally venturing in to the surrounds.

Cheers for the help

It just depends on how far you need to scan the rabbits at, ( not shoot them ) as if youve got a large field, the red filter on a tracer max will put eyes up a good distance away so you can head over to get the shot.

If your only scanning for rabbits out to say 100 yards then yes, a smaller one will do fine.

Bear in mind that a cheap scope may cause difficulty in getting a clear shot with a low powered lamp, whereas a quality scope, maybe with a larger lens will give a much clearer sight picture, with the same lamp, so depending on what scope you use or are planning to buy, bear this in mind when buying the lamp.

buy the deben atom mate.

i am sure it will do what you require of it.

my mate uses one(12v) and it copes quite well.

i now use the deben compact which is the older version of the atom.

like dixyhmr says, once you put a filter on it reduces your light

best of luck
