My 4 month old jack is born to hunt. Me and my dad really want to get working with her, a good way of preparing your jack is get a black or grey sock and fill it with newspaper and tie it at the end. We did this with our girl and she instantly went after it and when she final got hold of it she shook it like mad :boxing: . Also another way is to take them out to a field or woods and dig a few wholes and tie string to the end of the sock and pull to immatate a rat bolting and if your jack is intrested then they should go after it. Try and make it exciting and as fun as possible for the dog.

Your jack is still young, some tke some time. :D

For god sake it's 6 months old!!! It's still a puppy!!! :wallbash::wallbash: Try and force it to work and you WILL ruin the dog! Let it develop it's instincts, some just don't take to working some go mad from a few months old. Old socks and fluffy toys are a good way to get em interested or a nice fresh fox brush

Well said mate, in my oppinion russells are very clever dogs and thats what you need in a terrier.

They are the brains of the outfit, cheers.

You really started to arguing about the ability of a breed in an idiot's topic who doesn't know how to work with a 6 months old dog?!? Take time to that dog to GROW up man and ask it again after one more year!!!

It mustn't be serious.
