fao jac rabbit back in the 60s and early 70s when it was legal to do so we dug thousands of badger we done it in the name of pestcontrol we dug to them and we shot them no baiting them and i havent got a problem with this BADGERBAITING on the other hand where you get your badger usaely break its jaw cut his claws and sling him in a pit for a bunch of dogs to rip tp bits is rightly outlawed and so it should , one dog in a hole one on one with brock is fair do as a good baying dog was woth his whieght in gold , badger diggers didnt want fighters as they never lasted long a good bayer was the dog to us e its about time somebody spelt out the difference badger diggin and badger baiting are poles apart or at least should be

thats right a big differance between the two, and they never use the word fieldsports its allways bloodsports.

I didnt watch it earlier but have just forwarded it to the article in question, first thing i spotted was the so called footage of a Deben MK1 ferret finder being put into a police bag

So now anyone out seeing a couple of folks doing a spot of sunday morning ferreting who happen to have a terrier or a sighthound with them are going to be automatically thought off as doing something they shouldnt , thats a disgrace

i also think theres going to come a time when you cant risk going outdoors with a dog of any description because the amount of folks who would have watched that tripe & will believe it is unreal

So i think its no more walks for my dogs in daylight , the BBc should be ashamed of themselves for portraying things like they have done

I also forgot , since when has '' dog fighting'' been a countryside crime ,

Just watched it on iPlayer.

Not exactly reasoned debate, was it?

I thought it was sensationalist and designed to be divisive, to force sections of the community already in disagreement towards conflict. The antis will be full of righteous indignation because "That nice Mr Craven said it, so it must be true", and the proper hunters will be steaming at the misrepresentation.

The sort who don't care about the land, the quarry and the law won't care about the programme either, the RSPCA are generally ineffective at whatever they do and the police never arrive anywhere on time anyway.

Can't see what it was supposed to prove, this programme. Somebody calling in a favour from the BBC, most likely. It was hard enough already to find somewhere to just walk the footpaths with a dog without getting questioned these days, it's going to be even worse now with all these viewers being "vigilant".

Sad state of affairs.

I remember (not that long ago) programmes like landward and countryfile would be more about farming and such like, now its an absolute pisstake.

Badger baiting and digging are worlds apart, and grouping them together should be made criminal, not the sport. Digging is the sport of kings as is coursing.

Hare coursing will never get back on its feet if sensationalist gobshite like this comes on top for the townies and do-gooders to see, makes my piss boil.

No point wasting your time complaining, BBC are so feckin biased its a joke. The only thing we can do is try and portray our sport in as best a light as we can, not to anties(stove their head in if they give you grief), but to true country people who should be on our side, farmers, estate workers, people from the towns who have an interest in the countryside not besause its fashionable at the mo and anyone else who can give support. Lads like that in the subaru had a chance to fight their corner and let the country see why we do it, but instead they added more fuel to the fire.

Faggots moving from towns and cities into the countryside with their 5 acres are a plague on the nation, ripping local communities apart. Lets see countryfile do a programme on that!

:gunsmilie: fight the ban :gunsmilie:

And another thing while im at it! :icon_redface:

Did you see the amount of police that turned out to slap the lads wrists for taking their dogs a walk!

Someone should do a conscice report into how much taxpayers money and police time that could be used doing better things is wasted trying to enforce this ludacris ban.

I guarantee you it will be frightening, possibly enough to sway the majority of people into going against it.
