the terriers of today are light years ahead of where they were years ago . look back in the old books mate .Tipping 5.6,7,8 terriers into a set is NOT the way to test terriers........

I was just wondering how long did it take most of the experienced terrier men that are at it years to to finally get that terrier that you can call 100%.From the time you got your first terrier how long did it take or even how many terriers did it take that you could finally say to yourself ,i have a 100% digging dog or bitch in my kennell

Everyones idea of a 100 0/0 terrier will be different, but some things never change. You are better to try and get a pup of lads that keep things tight and breed for themselves than someone that sells for money ,that way you stand a better chance of getting a genuine worker even at that you need to see sire and dam working more than once preferably in a testing place .

Digging is an easy game now put on your high tec bleeper put in the dog and dig down to the locator. Before locators we often gave two or three hours trying to locate the dog that does not happen anymore.A lot of stuff that is bred from now would not tolerated(comeing away after two or three hours)(mute dogs)(dogs that could not kill a fox)(dogs that would not stay with badgers)In my opinion most of todays dogs(not all)are not a patch on what was worked before. And very few were breeding for money.

I agree that most dogs of today aint a patch on yesteryear due to modern technology and the ££££££££££££££,same applies to the terriermen .

A DOG IS ONLY AS GOOD AS IT'S LAST DIG.

Id have to disagree with ya there pal..

WHY SO?

Well if uv got a dog that wont stay to ground n always comes away but on its last dig he stays till dug n does well.. Is he a good worker?

Or if uv got a dog thats a good proven worker wit 50+ excellent digs, take him out n doesnt do the business 1 day.. Does he become useless over night?
