I was just wondering how long did it take most of the experienced terrier men that are at it years to to finally get that terrier that you can call 100%.From the time you got your first terrier how long did it take or even how many terriers did it take that you could finally say to yourself ,i have a 100% digging dog or bitch in my kennell

i think every case would be differnt scent it depends on the quary a lot and i think the ground you work i.e tight earths small bitch old sets big dog horses for corses but when it happens and you know the dog is 100 per sent its the bolllocks

i understand what you mean pal ,i suppose if your start buying working dogs instead of pups it might happen aolt sooner aswell

like they say though,big or small if they know its home and they want it they will reach it big or small............its in the dog

it's 100 % if it does the job right for you,after all it's a subjective viewpoint,and different terriers for different jobs for different outcomes,

very good question scent. but answers will vary alot. some lads will be lucky enough to start off digging with good lad who'll teach em how to enter a young dog and will put them straight when buying a pup. some lads will learn as they go and ruin agood terriers on the way and buy shit stock on the way......

had a few good terriers in my life! and some rubbish too, only got what i was realy looking for after digging with a very well known terrierman and he tought me all about the trade and what was what, got to get the best dog you posably can blood i mean and some good advice!! at the start i waisted time and money beleive me on dogs that were supposed to be well bred but were rubbish. The way that terrier work is looked on now it must be hard to find good blood for the beginers but they got to persevere if they can.hope this advice works for you!!

Depends on what you call 100% i suppose,I've had a few decent dogs over the years and a couple that i've been confident that when they went to ground that the quarry was in the bag,but even these failed to get a result at some point in their careers.IF A 100% earthdog is one that's NEVER failed then i've not had one yet and haven't seen one either.Theres too many variables in this game to use the term 100% freely.

you are very right there mate 100% is asking a bit much for any dog they all have bad days and hard times! some times its us that messes up and lets the dog down! once we had a dog in a good dog to! and a bitch that was coupled up broke loose and went in!when we got to the first dog the bitch had a good hold on his nuts it was a real mess i can tell you and it spoiled the dog. sorry to go off on one but a good pub tail

iv had my fair share of bad luck the last few year myself.I started off buying so called well bred pups that were really off shit that i later learned.I had a few digs with them but they walked when the goin got tough.At the moment iv another 2 well bred pups here ,one of which is a russell bitch and a pattxrussell that i got off kevin m .Even the working bitch i have here at the moment is on a yellow card.Just seems like a never ending cycle to try get a right good dog or bitch.Sometimes i feel like bashing me head off a wall

Yet to have a terrier that im 100% happy wit workwise.. Ive only had 1 bitch that was decent n worked well n got the job done but not without her flaws, its a few yrs ago now n havent had a decent worker since.. but i havent had the money to throw around on dogs at the moment but the time will come again n i'll make that breakthrough, please help me god..

scent the only way you ll get workers is to rear well bred pups and take your chance who in there right mind is going too sell a proper working terrier think about what your saying
