SouthernHunter 4
After reading Zini's thread about his successful trip out, it reminded me of the rare occasions I have been able to take a "full house" on my main shoot. There may well be variations, but for me, the Mcnab consists of the following:- Rabbit Squirrel Wood pigeon Magpie All must be taken on one single hunting trip. The last time I managed this was back in May-I managed 7 rabbits, 3 Squizzers, 1 magpie and 1 Wood pigeon. I was as excited as a randy teenager who has just found his older brothers hidden porno stash The most diverse bag I ever had in one garden, was few years ago. Amate of mine worked as head gardener on a small private estate which boasts a fantastic lake of around 2 acres. They were having horrendous trouble with Mink attacking the ornamental and exotic ducks. If you have never shot Mink, I advise extreme caution-they really are nasty little buggers and they stink to high heaven! I decided to use a .177 Logun Mk2 pro-as shot placement was going to be key. What I didn't expect was the total variety of game that came my way that day. By the end of play, I had taken: 2 Mink 1 Sqizzer 4 Crows 5 Woodpigeon 3 Collared Doves 2 Magpies-my favourite quarry! Anyone else here have their own "Mcnab"? Happy hunting all, Graham Edited December 4, 2009 by SouthernHunter Quote Link to post

sibaldib 6
Excellent post Graham. I would agree with your list of four, but maybe replace the woodie with a crow (more cautious than magpies where we live) Cheers Sib Quote Link to post
Sweeney-Todd 208
Hiya Graham. Can only imagine the pleasure you had on that day. The surroundings must have added even more to the experience. Forgive my ignorance....but why do they call it the Mcnab Nice post. ATB. Bill Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Nice post Southern I find that the best shooting is always from a static position over a well watched and noted flight line for birds or feeding spot for different quarry. IE pheasant feeders. Rats, squizzers, magies and other corvids love to hand around them and wait for lead poisoning Zini Quote Link to post

sibaldib 6
No problem. A bit dated as it was written in the '30s, but still a good read. Sib Quote Link to post
