hiya all i bought a shotgun cleaning kit for me 12g but i have a thing to ask wots is the jag used for

You put a patch on or through the jag, soak the patch in solvent and away you go.

Have never used the jag in my kit!

Just spray WD40 down barrels, not much, then used screwed up newspaper as a push tho to get rid of excess.

Follow it up with brush and then wool mop, job done!

I use the jag all the time (rifles as well, with smaller versions and patches/cloth) but with the Shotgun I am no fan of the plastic or brass thick ones.

 

I prefer the good old fashioned twisted wire with a loop, I virtually always use kitchen roll in the shotgun (good quality stuff).

 

All of course after a good scrub!

 

Works for me, but everyone will have their own preferences and cleaning regime. Simple fact is, if it works for you and cleans the shotgun/rifle it is fine!

thats what a have been using it for with the patch lol but a never thought it was for thats thanks for the replys
