MR TEA POT 1,287
I am gutted at the moment.I went to feed ferrets last night and one of my young jills did not come out,so i had a look at her and she was a bit wobbley on her legs and breathing heavy,i checked her first thing this morning and she was dead .Can not work out why yesterday morning she seemed fine running and dancing about with other jill and then in the space of a few hours she is dead. The other jill seems fine, the ferrets were just starting to work,i spent all summer getting them tame and ready for the season and then this happens :realmad: .I have had ferrets for about 15 years and have never known a ferret die so quickly in such a short space of time.Has anybody had this happen to them? Guest Ditch_Shitter
Happened to me about a year ago, Eddie. Right as rain on Monday. Last legs on tuesday. Kept ferrets for decades and very seldom lost one to sickness. But when they go over, f*** me do they go over! There's probably some cause for this which vetinary science simply hasn't located yet. Figure it out though; How many could afford a full Post Mortem to discover the cause? And, as ye see there, the little buggers hardly hang about to give us time to sort much else out For the record too; Yep. My other jill, her run mate, was and remained tip top. Mysterious things, ferrets. Quote Link to post

Neil 0
I went in my shed to feed mine last night, and they all came out there nest to meet me exept one 15 week old hob, i looked in the nest and i saw him laid out and looking close to death i picked him up and he was "twitching" slightly, i laid him on the floor whilst i fed the rest, and about 3 mins later, picked him back up but he was just lifeless almost looked dead.....and then he yawned, looked across, saw the food and ran to the pot to eat . Little bugger was asleep all the time Quote Link to post

Guest Frank
Bigeddie, so sorry about your loss. I had a albino jill, that faded away, for no apparent reason at all and just like your self, i raised it all summer, taming it ect and then that happens. Her sister and other hob are perfect. Not a nice feeling. Hope your others are fine and good luck with them. As Ds says, they are mysterious at times and i think more research should be done on them and more flaming vets should be edudcated on the illnesses that ferrets get, as most of them are dumb, when it comes to ferts. All the best, Frank. Quote Link to post
