davyt63 1,845
hi every one as im not back to work till friday i had my self a trip to moonlight valley.on my arrival i had noticed that there were more pibolds about this time,so the gypsy must have put some more in there since my last visit. any ways i got to moonlight field and had a wander down the fence towards moonlight valley,as im walking along the fence line i see 3 bunnys out about 150yds so a slow stalk towards them me tinks i got within 75yds before they clocked me and scarpered so onwards i went,i just got to the brow of mlvalley and had a sit down and got me binos out again to see where all the activity is.as i looked through them i counted 20 + bunnys,so a quick rest now as i have forgotten how much hard work this particular permission is "loads of leg work" but if i dont put any thing in to it i get nothing. so after i get my breathing back under control,it was on for a hard decent down in to the valley.as im not getting any younger i thought they say life starts at forty and as im going down the hill, it sums it all up!! i make my way to some wilted nettles and use these as cover i get me poncho out and put it down as the ground is soden, ruck sack in front of me as a barrier and sit and wait.while im waiting i use my tuff gun range finder to range the spots were i see the bunnys earlier 48yds 38 yds 33 yds 35yds and checked my BRC so i had to use 1 mildot for the 48yds all the rest were in my zero! an hour had passed and it was begining to get colder! then at the 48yd mark a bunny arrived, i let it settle for about 15 minutes THWACK! first one in the bag a nice clean head shot. i left it there and waited again and im tinkin this is the wrong weather for a bit of static! shooting  any ways as im moving my toes in my boots and my tips of my fingers to keep em warm! i see another 3 come out. one went straight up into moonlight field and the other two were grazing just behind some wilted nettles, and couldnt get a clean shot of. so had to see if i could move them with out giving my cover away. so a good old squeek of the lips and there heads were up,but they were reluctant to move so after another couple of squeeks one finally came in to shot 35yds THWACK!! straight down it went and so did its buddy "down a hole" as i was loosing the light very fast i decided to take a treck back up moonlight valley, after acouple of stops to get my breath, i reached the top alive! and went back down the fence line. to see if anything was about but nothing,so gutted them both and home. a good couple of hours out although a bit cold 2c i still enjoyed itand 2 shots 2 kills! group photo happy hunting davy Quote Link to post

Problem is I have to babysit out grandaughter. Maybe I can get my ass out of bed and down the paddock before sun up? I'll try but no promisses Desperate to drop a bunny or two again.
