Chickens4ever05 22
well tonight was fantastic. I was in the pub last night and a chicken farmer I know well said he had a few rats in a poultry shed that he wanted rid of before he refilled the cabin so of course I have obliged. Tod has only ever seen odd rats and never had a great deal of confidence an Young Dodger has never seen one so we were up for a challange. I went round with 1 ferret and my 2 whippets, as we walked in the cabin which housed 6000 birds up until last night we could see there were a few milling about, both dogs spoted one and give a half harted chase and it got away, the farmer said 'they wont catch out' and left us for 5 mins whilst he dealt with something else, on his return we had 10 in a pile. he was quite pleased and stayed for the rest of the action. Dodger was on fire at first and then Tod picked his game up, the rats where just coming out and we had 28 before I put the ferret down. I then decided we would give lilly a run down and about 8 bolted at once. this was a real test for the dogs, they have got a few war wounds to show for it. they certainly had some hart with the final bag being 62 in about 1 hour and 15mins all taken by 2 novis whippets ;D dam chuffed with them, and so was the farmer round 2 tomorrow and then round 3 saturday. heres a few pics, sorry no action shots as we were struggling with low light to get it to focus Tom Quote Link to post
